Ten years ago, in Charlotte Freedom Park . These trees were threatened. We saved 29 trees from being cut down by the city. These cherry trees were not “uniform” and were too “gnarly, according some overzealous park planners. We organized a petition and “friends of the park” campaign to save them and were succesful. They are still a pleasure to all to enjoy in spring.
